UFI set to announce list of qualified applicants

Making good on its pledge to help in the delivery of quality education in the country, the Unioil Foundation Incorporated (UFI) said it is set to announce the list of  qualified applicants for the Foundation’s scholarship slots this school year.

UFI Chairman Paul Co said 35 applicants have already completed their final interview and assessment as part of the requirements for the scholarship offered by the Foundation as part of their educational program this school year.

The scholarship program is part of the Foundation’s activities to be actively involved in ensuring that the next generation of Filipinos get quality basic education, and also to help our less fortunate brothers and sisters get that education,” Co said.

The 35 were currently enrolled at the Emilio Aguinaldo High School and Tomas Earshaw High School.

The Foundation said they are looking at increasing the number of scholarship slots next school year.

The program is open to elementary, secondary and college students as long as they passed the test and interview and maintain good academic standing.

Aside from the scholarship program, UFI has also donated bags and school uniforms and supplies to schoolchildren in Barangay 905, Sta. Ana, Manila.

The donation is part of the Foundation’s overall “Hatid Saya Eskwela 2011” program which last month saw the distribution of school bags and supplies to some 100 kids in Barangay Punta, Sta. Ana, also in Manila.

Now on its 3rd year, the activity has already gained widespread support from community-beneficiaries enabling them to attend schools without their parents having to worry about where to get their school bags and school supplies.

The Foundation is the corporate social arm of the UPPI, one of the country’s leading independent oil players.
