Unioil announced it will slash prices of diesel, gasoline, kerosene and AutoLPG sold in its retail stations

March 3, 2009

Consistent with its stand of providing the public with inexpensive yet high-quality petroleum products, Unioil Petroleum Philippines Incorporated (UPPI) announced it will slash prices of diesel, gasoline, kerosene and AutoLPG sold in its retail stations.

UPPI General Manager Chito Medina-Cue Jr. said diesel prices would be sold at P23.99 per liter, a reduction of P3 per liter while public utility drivers can avail of a much-lower price at P22.99 by patronizing the “PUV Lanes” in its service stations.

Unioil is also bringing down prices of Unleaded Gasoline, Regular Gasoline and Premium Gasoline by P1 per liter with the suggested retail price of P31.69 for the Unleaded Gasoline, P32.19 for Premium Gasoline and P31.41 for Regular Gasoline.

Unioil’s E10 (ethanol) price was also slashed by 75 centavos per liter. With the rollback, E10 would be sold at P31.44 per liter.

Medina-Cue said that for AutoLPG, Unioil will implement a P3 reduction effectively bringing down the price to P20.90 per liter.

Kerosene will also be slashed by P1 per liter with the suggested retail price of P34.68 per liter.

Medina-Cue said the latest price adjustment will be implemented effective at 2PM today.

"We decided to implement the latest price cutback in diesel and gasoline products sold in our retail stations in response to the declining prices of refined petroleum products based on the Mean of Platt Singapore benchmark average price per barrel,” Medina-Cue added.

"This is also consistent with what we have been doing since last year to give competitive prices to our consumers," he added.

Prices of refined petroleum products at the Mean of Platt Singapore went down to US$ 53 per barrel from the previous US$60 per barrel.

Dubai crude also went down by US$2 per barrel last January compared with the December average.

Last February 10, Unioil also slashed by P2.28 per liter the price of diesel and P2 for kerosene.

Medina-Cue said that despite the current financial crunch, Unioil would continue to fulfill its mandate of public service through competitive pricing commensurate to market development.

In a related development, the company is now in the middle of a P90 million expansion plan that would see the construction of six more service stations in Manila, Cainta, Pasig, Makati and Pasay cities for the initial expansion program this year.
