UNIOIL brings back its “big-time” rollback

July 13, 2009

Unioil Petroleum Philippines Incorporated on Monday brings back its “big-time” rollback which it has started to implement last year slashing pump prices on gasoline, diesel and kerosene effective at 2pm today.

Unioil General Manager Chito Medina-Cue Jr. said they would roll back Gasoline prices by P4.75 per liter, P3.50 a liter for Diesel and P1.50 for Kerosene products.

Medina-Cue Jr. said lowering the pump prices of their products would counteract the strategy of competition wherein other oil players are cross-subsidizing diesel prices by pricing gasoline products at a much higher level.

Our decision to give motorists the lowest gasoline price in the market wherein all motorists, regardless if they are credit card or cash customers will be given outright discounts on our products,” he said.

Therefore, today we will be bringing back the real big-time rollback. Presently, we are seeing an 8 percent rebate on fuel credit card purchases and we are contemplating to give more than the 8 percent in terms of outright discounts,” he added.

Last year, Unioil set the trend among local oil players with its big-time rollback on gasoline, diesel and kerosene products sold in its retail outlets and service stations.

The move has gained the support of the public still reeling from the skyrocketing of crude prices and basic commodities.

At the same time, Medina-Cue said the decision to lower pump prices is also due to the continuous downward trend in world crude prices and the company's earlier commitment to sell to the public high quality petroleum products at fair prices.

Prior to the latest rollback, Unioil sold its Unleaded Gasoline at P39.69 per liter, Quantum Premium Gasoline at P40.19,  Regular Unleaded P39.41, E10 at P39.44 while Pure Diesel Plus (B1) at P31.04 and Kerosene, P39.94 per liter.

Last June 29, Unioil also rolled back prices of petroleum products sold in its retail outlets and service stations by as much as P1.25 a liter for Gasoline, P1 a liter on Diesel and 75 centavos for Kerosene.

The company, one of the country’s leading independent oil players has 41 service stations and retail outlets in mainland Luzon alone. It is in the midst of a P90 million-expansion program that would see the construction of additional outlets in the National Capital Region (NCR) and neighboring provinces this year.

It has also targetted a major expansion program for its lubricant products with plans to have 10 distributors in the Southern Tagalog region, Bicol, Northen Luzon, Western Visayas and Mindanao within the year. by Leah Flor
