Unioil announces it will rollback its pump prices in response to EO 839

PRESS STATEMENT
In response to Executive Order No. 839 as issued by President Gloria
Macapagal Arroyo last October 23, 2009 which Directs the Oil Industry
Players to Maintain Prices of Petroleum Products Prevailing on the
Last Landfall of Typhoon Parma during the period of Emergency in the
Entire Island of Luzon, Unioil Petroleum Philippines, Inc. hereby
announces that it will be ROLLING BACK its pump prices in Metro Manila
and Luzon to its levels on October 15, 2009 effective 10 pm of October
25, 2009.
This announcement will result to a P 2.00/liter ROLLBACK in pump
prices of Diesel, P 1.25/liter ROLLBACK in pump prices of Premium,
Unleaded Gasoline and E10, P 0.85/liter ROLLBACK in pump prices of
Regular Gasoline and P 1.50/liter ROLLBACK in pump prices of Kerosene
bringing down the Maximum Retail Prices for Metro Manila as follows:
Pure Diesel - P 28.04/liter
Quantum Premium Gasoline - P 37.44/liter
Unleaded Gasoline - P 36.94/liter
Regular Gasoline - P 36.86/liter
E10 - P 36.34/liter
Kerosene - P 41.00/liter
This announcement was made in adherence to the directive made by the
President to respond immediately to the clamor of the Filipino people
to prevent unreasonable increases in the prices of petroleum products
during a State of Calamity.
The ROLLBACK is being implemented at a time when Oil prices in the
international market have reached its highest levels in 12 months.
The Mean of Platts Singapore, which is the benchmark for imported
finished goods prices of petroleum products, closed at $ 86.41/Barrel
of Diesel last October 23. The last instance when it reached this
level was on October 2008.
In his statement made, Unioil General Manager Mr. Luisito Medina-Cue,
Jr. was quoted, “In these times of crisis, we have to set aside our
financial considerations and prioritize our responsibility, as a
Filipino company, to our nation. We are heeding the call of President
Arroyo to retain our pump prices to the levels where they were last
October 15, 2009. ”
