Unioil doubles the rollback amount of other players
Following the recent slowdown in oil prices in the international market, Unioil Petroleum Philippines Incorporated (UPPI) will implement a rollback in diesel prices and kerosene sold in its retail outlets and service stations. UPPI General Manager Chito Medina-Cue Jr. said the company will roll back diesel prices and kerosene by Php 2.00 per liter starting 12:01 midnight on Friday. "Unioil decided to roll back diesel prices due to the substantial decline of September prices relative to August and as part of the company's commitment to sell to the consumers Unioil's quality petroleum products at affordable prices," Medina-Cue said. "At the end of the day, Unioil is not only a company with a mission to sell petroleum products but also a company with conscience. We are all consumers here," he added. Last month, Unioil implemented twice "big-time" rollback in gasoline, diesel and kerosene prices by as much as P3 and P2 per liter respectively, way above the price cut imposed by other oil players. The price roll back was lauded by various sectors, including the Department of Energy (DOE) and the transport groups that said Unioil reflected the "real" prices of the commodity based on current trend in the global market. Medina-Cue also said today's rollback affirmed Unioil's commitment to the public and the vision of its founder to "give back to the community especially as it is celebrating its 42nd Founding Anniversary on the month of October. "Unioil will always give the public the real prices as determined by market competition, supply, and international prices for the ultimate benefit of the consuming public," Medina-Cue explained. Unioil is one of the country's leading independent oil players with about 40 retail stations in mainland Luzon alone. It is also in the midst of a P90 million-expansion plan that would see the construction, initially of six more stations in Quezon city, Paranaque, Pasay and Makati to service the growing demand of the public for quality yet affordable oil products.
