Unioil Foundation helped victims of Ondoy

More than 50 employees as well as members of the media and their
families who were affected by tropical storm “Ondoy” were the initial
beneficiaries of the relief drive of the Unioil Foundation
Incorporated, the socio-civic arm of independent oil player, Unioil
Petroleum Philippines Incorporated (UPPI).
Janice Co, Unioil Foundation Inc. Director said most of the
beneficiaries were residents of Pasig City, Marikina and Cainta, the
three most hardest-hit areas in Metro Manila and Rizal province.
“This is our small contribution to our employees as well as media
friends who were affected by typhoon Ondoy.” Co said.
The beneficiaries received the relief assistance which includes
instant noodles, canned goods, formula milk, blankets, clothes, soap,
toiletries, medicines and drinking water last September 26-October 9
this year.
The relief goods were gathered and packed by Unioil employees headed by HR department at their
main office in Ortigas Center, Pasig City and were distributed.
Unioil employees were also given a P5,000 in cash as financial assistance.
Co said they are planning similar drive to help the residents in the
affected communities.
One of the beneficiaries, Nalymar Pelenio, brother of radio reporter
Jofel Pelenio of RMN-DZXL whose house in Pinagbuhatan, Pasig was
flooded at the height of the typhoon, expressed gratitude for the
assistance.
“Bagama’t wala namang nasaktan sa aming pamilya, nasira naman ang mga
gamit namin ng inabot ng tubig baha ang aming bahay so malaking tulong
talaga itong relief goods galing sa Unioil, “Pelenio said.
Unioil Foundation Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit organization of
Unioil whose main aim was to bring the company’s ideals of public
service to where it is needed the most.
It also provides educational assistance to poor yet qualified students
and income-generating opportunities through livelihood projects for
the unemployed in urban and rural communities.
It also promotes and initiate programs for charitable and social
welfare development through such noble programs as the adoption of the
Senden Home Foundation Inc.a special shelter for children and orphans
located at Pedro Gil in Sta. Ana, Manila. ####
